AFTERCARE
Taking proper care of your tattoo is essential to ensure it heals well and lasts a lifetime. Below you will find instructions on how to care for your new tattoo. Always make sure to wash your hands with liquid antibacterial soap before touching your tattoo.
second-skin Phase:
Second skin is a medical-grade adhesive film adapted for tattoos. it is water-resistant, so you can shower while wearing it, but I recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to water as it might sometimes seep in. If water gets in accidentally, please remove it and follow up with aftercare.
Keeping the bandage on for 1-3 days. During this time, You may see moisture, ink, or cloudiness under the film, this is Plasma which brings micro-ink particles to the surface. It’s totally normal and helps with the healing process. Wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent irritation or peeling of the bandage. If the bandage causes any discomfort or begins to peel off early, gently remove the bandage and continue to next step.
After 1-3 days(72 hours max), slowly stretch the bandage and hold it under running water to remove it.
after removing second skin
Gently wash your tattoo with mild, fragrance-free antibacterial soap and lukewarm water. Pat dry with a clean paper towel or let it air dry completely. Once dry, apply a very thin layer of ointment, just enough to lightly moisturize the skin. Tattoos need air to heal, so avoid over-applying. Repeat this cleaning and moisturizing process 2–3 times a day.
When your tattoo starts to peel or flake (usually around Day 4–7), Repeat the cleaning and drying process but switch to a fragrance-free, non-pigmented lotion instead of ointment. Repeat this process 2-3 times daily as needed for a minimum of 2 weeks.
what to avoid (first 2 weeks to 1 month)
Do not submerge your tattoo (baths, pools, hot tubs, ocean) Exposure to water can cause serious infections.
Do not expose your tattoo to direct sunlight until fully healed. Direct sunlight can excessively dry out the healing area and cause fading.
Do not use sunscreen until fully healed.
Do not use more cream or wash more than recommend, it can be just as harmful as not using cream.
Do not pick, scratch, or peel flaking skin. It’s normal to feel some itchiness during healing, this is a sign of your skin’s natural healing process.
Avoid intense exercise for 2 weeks. Friction, sweat, and contact with surfaces can irritate your tattoo and even lead to infection. Wash an extra time after sweating.
If you have pets, take extra care to keep your tattoo away from pet hair.
Allergic Reactions and Skin Sensitivity
If you have a known sensitivity to pigments, metals, or skin products, please inform your artist before your appointment.
If you experience itching, rash, or irritation around the second skin bandage(outside the tattoo area), you may have a sensitivity to the adhesive. Remove the bandage immediately, wash the area gently, and follow up with the standard aftercare routine.
If you experience unusual symptoms beyond the normal healing process (such as prolonged redness, blistering, or spreading irritation), discontinue aftercare products and consult a medical professional immediately.
